Leadership Advisor to Product Leaders Ready for Breakthrough Impact

Breakthrough Work Feels Different

When work feels like play.

My daughter got it right: “Wow, that was quick.”

I’d just told her I built the first version of my website in 48 hours. What I didn’t mention initially was that I barely slept during those two days.

Which led to the obvious question: Why do we do that?

This Is What Breakthrough Leadership Actually Feels Like

That moment captures something fundamental about what I now call breakthrough leadership.

It goes beyond time management or productivity hacks.

When we’re truly operating at the intersection of People, Performance, and Passion, something remarkable happens: work stops feeling like work.

Let me break down what happened through the Beyond Incremental Framework:

Passion: The Mission That Sustains

For nearly a year, I’ve been writing Beyond Incremental: The Breakthrough Leadership Framework. This isn’t just a book project.

It’s my authentic mission to help leaders move beyond incremental optimization to create breakthrough results.

When passion is present, time becomes elastic.

Those 48 hours felt like reading a great book at 3 AM, constantly telling myself, “just one more chapter.” Except that the chapters were features on my website.

Performance: The Systems That Enable

I started with a clear goal: turn my outline of the Beyond Incremental Framework into a live website people could actually explore.

I wanted the framework itself to be front and center, with automatic links to all of the articles and blog posts I’ve already written. And I wanted to use my writing, not AI-generated content.

I chose Claude Code to move quickly. It writes and refactors code based on natural language prompts, which let me structure the site fast and bring the initial vision to life.

Later, I switched to Windsurf, which let me work inside a full developer environment while still leveraging AI to handle implementation details.

That decision wasn’t about using the fanciest tools. It was about knowing when to switch tools to match the complexity of what I was building.

That’s performance thinking in practice: stay focused on the goal, and adapt your system to match.

People: The Multiplication That Matters

Here’s the fun part: I built a website, but I didn’t write a single line of code by myself.

Instead, I did what the best leaders do.

I clearly defined the outcome, articulated the vision, and empowered capable partners (in this case, AI tools) to execute.

This is the core of People leadership: multiplication over management.

I could have spent weeks building it myself or used an existing tool like WordPress that would have forced compromises.

That’s the incremental approach.

Instead, I focused on what only I could do (defining the framework structure, organizing my existing content, making strategic decisions) and let the tools multiply my impact.

Even more importantly, I built it for people. Every decision about site structure and navigation was about helping readers find the breakthrough insights most relevant to them.

When All Three Align

When all three dimensions align (authentic mission + systematic execution + effective multiplication), you experience breakthrough leadership in action.

This is where:

  • Hours pass like minutes
  • Obstacles become puzzles to solve, not barriers
  • Energy compounds instead of depleting

The Question For You

Think about the last time work felt like play.
When you looked up and hours had vanished.
When you told yourself “just one more thing” over and over.

That’s your signal. That’s where your authentic mission lives.

The real question isn’t “How do I manage my time better?”
It’s “How do I spend more time where People, Performance, and Passion intersect, where breakthrough leadership happens?”

For me, seeing my passion project take tangible form at BeyondIncremental.com (even rough around the edges) was worth every sleepless hour.

Because it wasn’t work.

It was breakthrough leadership in action.
